Eye and Vision Exams

Eye Exam ImageAt Sie Eyecare we strive to provide comprehensive, primary eye care for the entire family. Yearly, preventative and routine eye exams are important to maintaining good eye health. Often, eye and vision problems do not have obvious symptoms or signs, but are easily diagnosed during a comprehensive eye examination. By diagnosing eye and vision conditions early on, our doctors are able provide treatment options and in many cases restore or prevent vision loss.

Eye Exam and Consultation

During an eye exam, our doctors will ask you questions about any symptoms or issues you are experiencing, medications you are currently taking, your work environment, and your overall health. Family history and previous eye or vision conditions will also be discussed during this part of the examination. All these factors will be considered when determining any treatments or recommendations.

Vision Testing

Regular vision testing ensures that you always have the clearest vision possible. Refraction, which determines the glasses prescription, is performed by our doctors. Based on the results, we will prescribe corrective glasses or contact lenses if they are needed.

Eye Function Testing

In addition to vision testing, an eye exam in our office includes testing eye functionality. Our doctors will evaluate several tests to evaluate depth perception, color vision, eye muscle coordination, and peripheral vision. Several other tests are completed to determine whether the eyes are focusing, moving, and working together properly. These tests assist our doctors in diagnosing any underlying conditions that may be impairing the eyes' ability to focus or work together.

Eye Health

As part of a comprehensive eye exam, Dr. Amanda Sie and Dr. Joseph Sie evaluate the exterior and interior eye health. To examine the internal structures of the eye, our doctors recommend Optomap retinal imaging. This allows a detailed examination of the inside of the eye without pupil dilation and provides a permanent visual record for future comparison. There are cases where pupil dilation may be necessary as well. After completion of the examination, the doctor will review the results and discuss any necessary treatment options with you.
